Job Description

We are seeking an outstanding Undergraduate Student Intern to join our multi-disciplinary team focused on developing new ways to produce renewable fuels and chemicals using heterogeneous catalysis. The intern will join a team of researchers working on process and catalyst development aimed at efficiently converting renewable feedstocks such as biomass and waste into valuable fuels and chemical products. The intern will learn to prepare catalysts and characterize their structure and function. This work includes conducting flow reactor experiments, preparing catalyst samples for various spectroscopic characterization methods, organizing and analyzing data, and presenting data to other members of the research team. As the candidate becomes fully proficient at performing these tasks, opportunities may arise for involvement in other group activities based on the intern’s interests and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be degree-seeking students enrolled at an accredited college or university. Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall GPA of 2.5.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates must have some experience in the development of heterogeneous catalysts.

The ideal candidate is safety-oriented, possesses good written and oral communication skills, and has demonstrated an ability to collaborate effectively.

Preferred candidates will have a strong track record of demonstrating initiative, problem-solving, independent execution of routine research tasks, and ability to learn new concepts and research techniques

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline

3.5 GPA or higher is preferred
