Job Description

The Student Programming Assistant provides support for the Office of Student Life, including front-desk, clerical, and programmed activities.

Duties include, but are not limited to, welcoming visitors to the Student Life Office and providing general information, establishing and maintaining files, performing general clerical duties, assisting with programming development, marketing, setup and staffing, giving office tours to prospective and current students and visitors, monitor food pantry and collection donation baskets across campus, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Education

High school diploma or GED; Student Programming Assistants must be currently enrolled as credit students in good standing at HCC and be at least 18 years of age.

Required Experience

No prior experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Computer skills in MS Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher

Ability to work within a team environment

Ability to think creatively, critically and problem-solve

Willingness to take initiative

Strong communication skills and ability to maintain a professional demeanor

Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

General Weekly Work Schedule

Work hours are flexible and can be arranged to fit the student’s class schedule. Work hours will be scheduled during the period of Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays and/or evenings with advance notice.
