Overview:

The Technology team at Ogilvy is seeking an Interface / Front-End Intern with a passion for programming, visual craftsmanship, and learning new skills and technologies. This Technology intern will work on-site at our New York headquarters, joining a team of talented engineers with deep experience in Front-End development who build large-scale and high visibility websites, applications, solutions and features for Fortune 500 clients using a wide variety of technologies and modern programming techniques. The Technology intern will be responsible for assisting interface developers in their daily tasks, especially relating to coding, ideating and problem-solving. If you are a team player with Front-End experience who enjoys bringing the presentation layer of websites to life and is looking to learn with award-winning engineers, this is an exciting opportunity to add work for some of the world’s most recognizable brands. We are looking for someone who is available to work full time for an engagement of 10 weeks minimum this summer.

Responsibilities:

  • Transform designs into functional websites
  • Work on projects with a fair degree of independence, contributing to ideation, coding, bug fixing and problem-solving
  • Interface with design and QA team members
  • Participate in and contribute to technology strategy discussions
  • Take technical direction and develop proof-of-concept prototypes\

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or will complete 3rd year of a 4-year undergraduate program prior to internship
  • Ability to work full time (40hrs/wk)
  • A great work ethic, positive attitude and team player
  • Great communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Solid understanding of client-side languages and concepts, including:
  • Basic understanding of coding best practices such as the DRY principle
  • Basic understanding of version control systems such as Git
  • Basic understanding of bundlers/taskrunners such as webpack, gulp, or Grunt
  • While not required for consideration, any of the following skills would be a plus:
  • Experience with modern JavaScript standards, methodology and frameworks/libraries, including one or more of the following: ES6, MV* (Backbone, AngularJS, React), visualization (WebGL, Three.js, D3) and server-side JavaScript (Node.js)
  • Experience with social media APIs such as Twitter and Facebook
  • Experience with content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress
  • Familiarity with build processes
  • Experience writing unit tests
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
  • Knowledge of web performance and SEO best practices
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or XD
