    Duties

    Summary

    DON Pathways Internship Program

    You will serve as a STUDENT TRAINEE (ENGINEERING AID) in the PUBLIC WORKS BUSINESS LINE of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

    A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 10.28% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.

    Responsibilities

    • You will prepare manual sketches in the field and formalize them into figures and/or CAD drawings for inclusion in the engineering report.
    • You will assists others in preparing detailed engineering cost estimates to support environmental plans.
    • You will determine through calculations the facilities’ capacities or other facilities’ parameters to assess their compliances with the environmental standards.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Field inspections are made of various facilities including buildings, piers, wharves, flooding flumes, dry docks, pumps, and boilers which require walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling and reaching.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The work is primarily conducted in an office setting. However, field inspections are made which may warrant paying the employee high pay for hazardous duty while working in an elevated position (fifty feet or more) without handrails. Protective clothing worn in field inspections includes coveralls, gloves, hard-toed boots, safety glasses and safety belts.
