About us: Working in the Department of Health and Social Sciences, and specifically the Sociology, Criminology, and Policing Subject Group, this post will primarily focus on teaching and supporting learners on the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP). This is a 2 year programme which is one of three entry routes to the police as outlined in the College of Policing Police Education Qualifications Framework. UWE have worked in partnership with Avon and Somerset Constabulary to develop the PCDA and are somewhat advanced in the development of the DHEP (also known as the Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice). The postholder is also likely to contribute to the Police Constable Degree apprenticeship, which is an integrated programme providing training and education for approximately 360 new police constables across 6 cohorts each year.

There may also be an opportunity to supervise undergraduate project and placement students, and to undertake the pastoral and academic care of students through the academic and personal tutor (APT) role on both the Policing and Criminology programmes. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to recruitment and outreach activities, such as Open Days and Applicant Days.

About you: We are looking for a well-rounded Senior Lecturers to lead the DHEP programme, contributing specifically to this programme and the Policing subject area more generally. The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing an outstanding student experience, be collegiate, flexible and ideally have a strong appreciation of the skills relevant to being a successful Police Detective.

UWE Bristol is an ambitious university. Together, our people are working hard to advance knowledge, inspire people and transform futures. We are looking for people with the skills and ambition to help us achieve those aims.
